Proximal and sensory analysis of red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) fed with fish tanks sediments from a Biofloc culture

Feeding accounts for 50%-60% of production costs in fish farming, and alternative raw materials are used to lower costs. These can alter nutritional values ??and sensory aspects the final product. The present study describes results proximal composition, sensory, microbiological analyses red tilapia (Oreochromis sp.) fed with a biofloc meal (fish sediment residue). showed that contained protein levels over 30%, 3% nitrogen 6% calcium. Fish productive performances within ranges established species. Sensory analysis revealed cooked product’s appearance was very characteristic, presenting slight metallic flavor moderate juiciness. bromatological composition indicated each 100g 16 g protein. Finally, guarantees compliance local tandards confirms product does not contain significant microorganisms could cause foodborne diseases when consumed by humans. In conclusion, use at small farm proved be sustainable feeding Oreochromis sp.
